The Exhibition

An extraordinary visual experience…
The world’s most famous street artist Banksy’s Artworks are in Bikini Berlin until 15th January 2019.

The Art of Banksy Exhibition will take you on an enchanting journey with the master of streets, namely Banksy, who succeeded in becoming a world-renowned artist. Nobody knows who is Banksy, yet everybody knows who he is.

He is probably the most famous yet the most mysterious graffiti artist this world has seen. Some consider him a prankster whereas others, an artistic genius.

The Artworks are coming from the curator Steve Lazarides’s own collection and other private collectors from all around the world, are all original works and limited edition screen prints by Banksy himself, which are all unique in their form. Original canvases, paintings, sculptures and interactive storytelling let’s you experience the poignant periods of Banksy’s career.

Lazarides has selected a couple of the artist’s most talked about and topical artworks, including the iconic ‘Girl with Balloon’, piece which is regarded as key work in his oeuvre. ‘We are also showing a selection of photos that place the work in the right context,’ says Lazarides. ‘I took them myself during the collaboration with Banksy and they have never been shown before.’

About Steve Lazarides

In 2006, at the age of 37, Steve Lazarides, the Bristol born gallery owner and self-made entrepreneur, launched his first gallery on Greek Street in the heart of London’s Soho. From the very beginning, Lazarides exhibited artwork inspired by the urban environment including work by the anonymous artist Banksy. He has since expanded his gallery empire with three additional spaces − two in London and one in Newcastle.

One of the strongest advocates of ‘Outsider Art’ along with a keen eye for extreme talent, Lazarides represents some of the most innovative artists working today. In addition to the gallery’s permanent exhibition program, Lazarides has launched numerous shows at temporary spaces worldwide that increase the global reach of his gallery and associated artists. The success of these shows has generated a broad interest in ‘street art’− giving birth to the current movement.

“Contemporary art is about having a certain state of mind, not an age group or a wealth bracket or an art history degree. You are either open to new ideas as or you are not.”

– Steve Lazarides, The Times Online, 2009

"When I first met this scruffy, grumpy guy back in 1997 I would have never guessed that 20 years on he would be the most famous artist of his generation, and that his work would be studied on school curriculums"

"I worked with him for 11 glorious years, during which time we broke every rule in the art rule book along with a fair few laws. He has since gone on to become a global superstar and has retained his ability to shock and make people chuckle"
